April 02, 2012 The East Texas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers awards scholarships to graduating seniors who plan on majoring in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering at an accredited four year university. Freshmen receive $500 per semester, upperclassmen receive $1,000 per semester for a total of $7,000 given over 4 years. To remain eligible a student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and 30 hours of coursework per year. Applications are available in Ms. Orr's office or may be obtained at www.easttexas.spe.org.
