College Test Information

SAT II

These tests are hour-long achievement exams in 18 subject areas such as writing, mathematics, US History, world languages, literature, and the sciences. Students are able to self-select the exams that they take, however, they should review college requirements to ensure that they are taking the appropriate tests. (For instance, many schools will "strongly recommend" that a student take 3 SAT IIs: writing, math - either the IC or the IIC (the more difficult of the two), and then the third is the student's choice. Only some of the colleges that require the SAT I will also require the SAT II - students should review requirements for each college of interest.

*For those of you who know about "Score Choice," the process through which students are able to see their scores first and then choose which scores they would like reflected on their transcript, there is an update. The College Board has opted to eliminate Score Choice, beginning in the fall of 2002. Students may still opt to use Score Choice for either the May or June SAT. Those students who have used Score Choice in the past, will still have their scores held under this option until they are released by the student to become a part of their official testing record. For more information about this decision: www.collegeboard.org/sat/html/scorechoicesum.html
